One of the good things to come out of lockdown was the ability as a yoga student to access yoga teachers from all over the world – I loved it and got to spend virtual time with some amazing and world renowned teachers. As a teacher I was also thrusted into joining the rush to teach on Zoom.
With a little trepidation I jumped into teaching two weekly online classes, an ashtanga and a hatha. The ashtanga has since fallen away as it is more hands on and people want to breath and move together. My Hatha on the other hand has held steady. Like in the times of lockdown it still brings people together from not only across Perth, Britain but even far flung Cameroon.
Although I miss the chat and the ability of student to heckle and shout at me when I count too slowly, I love the community we have formed together. The energy we share at the start of class as we show up for each other each week and the dozy and mellow faces that greet me again at the end of the relaxation as we come back together to say our closing mantra.
I hope too that you laugh with or at me as I tell silly stories. I don’t mind if the screen is off or all I can see it your head or ceiling – you are showing up and your doing amazing in your own space in time. I thank you all – as you help me share the joy of moving and breath with focus! 😊
I’ve been joining Rachel’s Monday evening sessions most weeks for the past 8 months. At first I was sceptical as to whether an on-line session would be any good. I was pleasantly surprised, as Rachel’s warmth and humour shine through and she gives very clear instructions as to what we need to do.
I’ve found yoga beneficial: the breathing exercises and stretches have improved my posture, strength, make me stand a little taller, breathe a little easier. Am really chuffed – just the other day at the supermarket squatted down to lift two four-pinters from the back of the fridge without even thinking about it. Thanks Rachel xx
If you would be interested in joining my zoom yoga class. Drop an email to yogaperth.co.uk and I will forward you some further information. Much Love in Yoga, Rachel xxOm 🙏❤
