Just the right balance...
That is how I would describe my approach to yoga and to life. I get a genuine buzz from practising and from seeing the movement of energy as a class moves and breathes together.
I first trained in 2004 with the CYS 200-hour Teacher Training programme, which I continue to support and mentor on today. I had attended local classes since childhood with my wonderfully open-minded mum, and yoga always felt like home. In my early twenties, I turned to a yoga teacher training as a way to explore my passion more and also help deal with the big emotions that came with that stage in my life. Teaching became a natural and deeply rewarding outcome of my own self discovery journey.
Over more than twenty years my teaching has evolved through the guidance of many experienced and generous teachers. I would like to especially thank June Mitchell for setting me on my yoga path as young child and who still supports me now. My own practice has ebbed and flowed through children, injury and life stages – yoga has been a constant support.
I currently teach Hatha Raja Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and the Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs programme. My classes focus on breath, steady progression and helping people build resilience both physically and mentally.
Yoga is not about performance. It is about learning to bend so you don’t break.
