Yoga for healthy backs
A structured, supportive approach to back pain
The Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs course is a 12-week programme designed for people living with long-term, non-specific lower back pain. It is gentle, progressive and suitable even if you have never practised yoga before.
Over the 12 weeks, we gradually work through more than 50 carefully selected postures. The aim is to build strength, improve posture and increase confidence in your back. You will also develop a simple home sequence to support yourself between classes and long after the course ends.
The course is taught in two six-week blocks and runs twice a year, in spring and autumn. Classes are small, allowing for personal guidance and support.

Background
The programme was developed by Alison Trewhela and Anna Semlyen and supported by research at the University of York with funding from Arthritis Research UK. The results of the trials showed significant improvements in back function compared to usual care approaches.
This course is designed for people with non-specific lower back pain. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for you, I am very happy to discuss your situation in confidence.
